This thought-provoking presentation will weave together a range of perspectives on “being in the body” in health, illness and recovery from eating disorders. Drawing on lived experience, clinical research, and philosophical as well as psychological theory, this session aims to highlight the relevance of embodied approaches to understanding and responding to eating disorders.
Enlightenment is not guaranteed, but expect to leave feeling stimulated, and with any questions you may have answered!

James is a mental health campaigner, peer researcher, and expert by experience in eating disorders. James holds various roles at the Royal College of Psychiatrists, Mind and NHS England aimed at improving support for those experiencing mental health problems and eating disorders. He also represents several UK mental health charities. James is also an experienced yoga teacher and teacher trainer. James has written extensively about his own experiences with the hope that those who read his work find comfort, affirmation and hope.
